Chiko

I realised today that in spite of my blog being called Cat’s Whiskers, I haven’t mention much about cats, so as Sunday treat here is old Chiko, saying hello to the world, the way he prefers, through a peaceful nap.

Chiko has been with me for 10 years now, although he is 20 years old. The beginning of his life he shared with a friend’s mother until she passed away, and then he came to live with me, he lived a full life so far, experienced the great outdoors, had a fair amount of girlfriends i am sure and also a fair amount of battles, judging by his scars. Now he is living his best life: enough food on his belly, peace and quiet for his preferred physical activity: Naps. As well as a slave, me, that provides for his every need.

I had the immense privilege of being a part of his senior years, and even though he is a bit of a grumpy cat, always complaining about his food, he still is a very sweet old boy and shows me everyday i am his favourite human. So if by any chance you find yourself in a position to adopt a cat, please consider a senior one, they make for great friends. Also just a tidbit of cat lore, did you know that cat’s whiskers are thought to be a lucky charm? So if you have a cat and find that whiskers that your cat shed around your house, keep them, it doesn’t hurt to be a little superstitious. Also don’t go plucking your cat’s whiskers, it’s not how it works, cats need their whiskers and it will bring you the worst karma upon you.
